These sessions were targeted to specialist technical audiences, primarily consisting of council staff, councillors, General Managers, and Department of Planning Regional teams. These sessions were held to provide detailed information and advice to councils before the commencement of JRPPs.
The sessions were held in 10 major centres within each of the five regions where Regional Panels came into effect on 1 July 2009. The centres visited were:
- Sydney CBD (Sydney East Region)
- Parramatta (Sydney West Region)
- Newcastle, Gosford (Hunter and Central Coast Region)
- Wollongong, Queanbeyan, Wagga Wagga (Southern Region)
- Tamworth, Ballina, Coffs Harbour (Northern Region).
216 council representatives from 65 councils attended the sessions. These representatives were joined by staff from the Department of Planning’s regional and central offices.
Sessions for Western region councils will be held in Dubbo and Griffith between 6 - 8 July 2009.
